BUILD A BETTER BOWTIE
MEET: JORDAN DOERING
BIO
I’m a mechanical engineering major graduating in Spring 2018. I come from a long line of engineers so you could say it’s in my blood. Ever since moving to Southern California from San Francisco and enrolling in CSU Long Beach I’ve been passionate about fighting for students. I’m a member of the Urban Workshop makerspace and use it to feed my nerdy addictions such as making a full set of Death Trooper armor from scratch for the premiere of Rogue One: a Star Wars Story. When not representing you in the ASI Senate I teach engineering concepts to kids with LEGOs. So yes, I do get payed to play with LEGOs. How else would I make that sweet bow tie?

EXPERIENCE
In the dorms Jordan was elected to the first Beachside Senate and helped define its role using student money for student events. He has served as a student representative of ASI to the academic senate advising on course requirements and also worked at ASI’s Recreation and Wellness Center. Jordan has been selected to represent CSULB ASI at the California Higher Education Student Summit (CHESS) in Sacramento and has been working with ASI Lobby Corps and meeting with legislators since January. His message has been fighting for students against the proposed tuition increase and finding a long term funding source for the CSU from the State Legislature. Jordan is one of the current Senators on the ASI Board of Directors representing the college of engineering and is seeking reelection to continue to be a voice of engineering students.
